TriZetto Advantage 10 Services
Help Payers Leverage ANSI 5010 and ICD-10 Migration
to Drive Broader Competitive Advantages

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - June 1, 2009 - The TriZetto Group, Inc. today announced TriZetto Advantage 10 Services, a new broad suite of services that helps healthcare payers successfully comply with ANSI 5010 and ICD-10 standards, and to use the migration as a catalyst to drive strategic initiatives such as value-based benefits, member and partner portal strategies, automated clinical decisions and expanded wellness programs.

The first three services-Readiness, Impact Planning and Business Alignment-are available immediately, with the final three services--System Alignment, Operation Leverage and Transition--to be available later this year. Used together, Readiness, Impact Planning and Business Alignment provide payers with a 5010 and ICD-10 Strategic Roadmap that outlines the business and technical milestones for compliance and strategic initiatives. This complete project plan includes training requirements, development plans, platform consolidation strategy, trading partner remediation plans, implementation timelines and testing schedules.

TriZetto Advantage 10 Services complement TriZetto's core, care and constituent applications, which will include ANSI 5010 and ICD-10 compliance within their respective 4.7 product releases in 2009 and 2010. TriZetto Advantage 10 Services are also available to all payers, regardless of which products they use.

"TriZetto Advantage 10 Services help payers comply with the ICD-10 mandate and also harness the more specific claims data to drive Integrated Healthcare Management (IHM) changes like the design of benefit programs that promote healthier lifestyles and improve care," said Mike Jenner, executive vice president of TriZetto Services. "Done well, the ICD-10 migration can support initiatives such as designing payment incentives for providers that reward value and discourage poor quality and inefficiency. With thoughtful planning and skill, payers can leverage their applications and new coding structures to achieve IHM."

A recent survey of healthcare payers conducted by The Gantry Group on behalf of TriZetto found that 76 percent of respondents plan to leverage the ICD-10 and ANSI 5010 migration to transform the way they do business and drive competitive advantages, highlighting a significant market need for solutions that offer more than code remediation and testing.

"While some payers will likely choose to merely 'keep the lights on' by complying with the mandates, many payers will also use ICD-10 as a strategic tool," said Janice Young, program director, Health Industry Insights. "ICD-10 can be used to make more efficient investments in new technologies that enable healthcare payers to improve efficiency, customer management, care delivery and information delivery."

The full set of TriZetto Advantage 10 Services includes:

  • Readiness - Cross-organizational education and training plus an analysis of five key planning activities, which is captured in a 5010/ICD-10 Readiness Scorecard, ranks the organizational knowledge on the migration strategy, the migration plan, resource issues and provides a high-level budget for the transition process.
  • Impact Planning - Identifies areas of the organization that will be affected by the migrations, creates an enterprise inventory of business and technical impact and assesses the readiness of trading partners. It also builds an inventory of the data and reports that require conversion and presents code translation options.
  • Business Alignment - Evaluates and details necessary changes to utilization, care and disease management initiatives, customer service workflow and claims administration processes, ICD-9 and ICD-10 code crosswalks and provider contracts.
  • Systems Alignment - Defines the priorities, sequence and testing strategy of the upgrade path/implementation cycles for core, care and constituent systems. Maps codes, reconfigures products, implements interface changes, coordinates trading partner activity, and develops and implements test plans. Gauges operational readiness for Operational Leverage and Transition to be IHM-enabled.
  • Operational Leverage - Aligns new coding, benefits and configuration changes. Develops targeted, specialty product, benefit and care plans that better leverage the value of the new coding system. Enhances business intelligence and medical savings analytics. Defines the operational and overall business readiness and competitiveness for transition.
  • Transition - Completes all planned system conversions, alignments and customizations while supporting or phasing out Legacy systems. Ensures dual-operation processes are functional. Completes full vendor/trading partner processing and reporting, and aligns data conversion and reporting warehouse. Includes the finalization of any IHM-enabled matrices and materials to demonstrate overall impacts and benefits and the completion of the final evaluation and update to 5010/ CD-10 Strategic Roadmap for costs, impacts and benefits.

Payers can purchase TriZetto Advantage 10 Services individually or in bundled packages. The packaged offerings include Strategic Roadmap (Readiness through Business Alignment), Compliance (Readiness through Systems Alignment) and IHM-Enabled (Readiness through Transition).
