TriZetto Delivers New Provider Interface, Consumer Self-Management Tools in Latest Version of CareAdvance Enterprise Software

Functionality Part of Company's Commitment to Help Health Plans Manage Cost, Quality of Care

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – August 3, 2006 – The TriZetto Group Inc. (NASDAQ: TZIX) today announced the release of its CareAdvance Enterprise™ Version 4.1 software, which allows health plans to automate utilization, case, disease and population management, and to extend a personal health record (PHR) and personal health management tools to their members. Continuing its leadership role in consumer-focused care management, TriZetto has enhanced the system with important new functionality to further streamline and improve medical management. For the first time, providers can access CareAdvance Enterprise to conduct administrative and clinical functions via a portal on the health plan's website. The system also includes new member incentive programs that extend beyond traditional disease management, as well as embedded clinical content to improve utilization management by automatically determining standard guidelines for care.

New Provider Interface

CareAdvance Enterprise's new provider interface and tools tightly integrate physicians, hospitals and other providers into the care process, to help ensure maximum efficiency and quality care. A specially designed portal allows providers to log-on to the health plan's website and link to the CareAdvance Enterprise system to conduct administrative and clinical functions online. Providers can submit and track authorizations; access key patient information, such as current prescriptions and health conditions; initiate a care plan or assessment; send and receive messages; view member alerts; and enter progress notes.

New Consumer Self-Management Programs

The latest version of the population and personal health management module of CareAdvance Enterprise, called Personal CareAdvance, also includes new self-management programs, which use automation to extend health guidance to a broader population of members, especially those who do not warrant nurse time over the phone. In addition to valuable PHR capabilities, the system now enables the health plan to automatically identify, educate, and manage members who could benefit from enrollment in appropriate self-management programs. The system can track members' progress through the personalized programs - including whether they have completed interactive tutorials and assessments for a wide variety of conditions, such as smoking, diabetes, or lower-back pain - and then extend incentives to those who have taken positive steps to improve their health. When various health and wellness goals are met, members become eligible to receive rewards ranging from basic gift cards, to a contribution to their health spending account or additional health plan benefits.

New Integrated Clinical Criteria for Standards of Care

To help the health plan's case managers better evaluate the medical necessity of a particular procedure, hospital admission or extended hospital stay, TriZetto has now integrated a national set of clinical criteria into the CareAdvance Enterprise workflow tool. After case managers input key information on the patient, provider, diagnosis and procedure, an automated rules engine determines the nationally accepted standards of care. Case managers can follow these guidelines when authorizing procedures, hospital admissions, and other treatments for members. The embedded clinical criteria in CareAdvance Enterprise can help eliminate guesswork by standardizing the authorization review process, resulting in more efficient utilization management.

According to Roy Schoenberg, M.D., M.P.H., senior vice president and chief internet solutions officer for TriZetto, another significant enhancement to CareAdvance Enterprise is its new data interface package, which allows plans to easily exchange information with multiple internal and external systems, such as those for claims, predictive modeling, pharmacy, home biometrics, and labs. The availability of these data sources allows the health plan to deliver a far more personalized, accurate communication and intervention to all three constituents - members, care managers and providers.
