TriZetto Appoints Two New Members to Board of Directors

Business Leaders Lois Evans and Thomas Johnson
Bring Managed Care, Finance Expertise

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – April 8, 2003 – The TriZetto® Group, Inc. (Nasdaq:TZIX) appointed Lois Evans and Thomas Johnson to its board of directors, both as independent directors. With these appointments, TriZetto has filled the seat vacated by Sharon Garrett and expanded the board from seven to eight members. Garrett resigned to accept the position of executive vice president, Enterprise Services, for PacifiCare, Inc. Evans will serve on the board's Compensation Committee and Johnson will serve on the Audit Committee.

"As high-caliber, independent directors, Lois and Tom will play a vital role in advancing TriZetto's strategy for growth and profitability," said Jeffrey H. Margolis, TriZetto's chairman and chief executive officer. "As a top management consultant, Lois provided strategic and business integration counsel to multiple healthcare clients – including many TriZetto customers. Tom brings decades of financial experience, from auditing to general management of a prominent healthcare organization. The addition of these individuals reinforces TriZetto's reputation as a healthcare industry leader with deep expertise on the board and throughout the company."

Lois Evans recently retired as a senior partner with Deloitte Consulting. During her 25-year career with Deloitte, she managed the Southern California and Washington, D.C., consulting practices. She was lead partner responsible for managing major clients such as Kaiser Permanente, Blue Shield of California, Blue Cross of California, Duke University Medical Center and Prudential Insurance. Evans also served on multiple advisory committees for key financial and management functions in the organization, including Deloitte's Management Committee, Compensation Committee and Strategic Planning Committee.

As one of the firm's highest-ranking female executives, Evans was actively involved in the first organized effort to recruit and advance women at Deloitte. She received both her bachelor's degree in Economics and her master's degree in Architecture and Urban Planning from UCLA. Evans previously served on the UCLA School of Medicine's board of directors and currently sits on several non-profit boards.

From 1995 to 2001, Thomas Johnson held senior executive positions at CNA Financial Corporation, a global insurance company. He served as group vice president of healthcare provider markets, a more than $100 million business unit, and also served as chairman and CEO of CNA Health Partners, a medical benefits administrator that served over 200,000 members. At CNA, he was responsible for the development of managed care strategies in the company's healthcare and benefits segment and played a key role in evaluating the company's investments in early-stage healthcare technology companies.

Prior to joining CNA, Johnson spent over 30 years in numerous leadership roles at Deloitte & Touche, including 22 years as partner. His broad experience includes developing and implementing business strategies for both private and public initiatives in the health benefits market. While in corporate finance at Deloitte, Johnson managed the sale and acquisition of numerous HMOs. A certified public accountant, Johnson received his bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Northwestern University and an MBA in accounting and finance from the University of Chicago. He currently serves on the board of directors for PatientWise Corporation, a healthcare technology company, and he formerly served on the board of directors for Americhoice, Inc., a $1 billion privately-held HMO, prior to its acquisition by UnitedHealth Group, Inc.
